Anne Shirley is an orphan. She likes to daydream. She thinks the world is a wonderful place.

Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert need a boy to work on their farm. They adopt a boy. Anne is sent instead. In the beginning, Marilla doesn’t like Anne. She doesn’t like her imagination, but Matthew likes Anne. She is a different kind of girl. They decide to keep her.

Anne has lots of adventures. She likes living at Green Gables. She doesn’t have to imagine life is going to be better any more. She has a home and people that want her.
